Fun activities with 100 were enjoyed by all! Here are a few photos from the event.
Students were given a rrrreeeeaaaallllyyyy long sentence. The task: take out the words that you don't need. How does the sentence change? Does it still have the same meaning? What are the kinds of words that we took out? #learninglanguagewithoutworkbooks.
EM spent part of her weekend making her own puzzles and brought them in the share with us this morning. Thank you, EM! (Note that when the popsicle stick puzzle is put together....it's Mme Katie!) What may have seemed like a little thing to us, was a big thing for the residents of Résidences de la Gappe. They received our Christmas cards, and sent us this letter of thanks. Bravo classe 1/2!
Thanks to the City of Nepean, we were able to borrow stereoscopes and some "old school" toys to enjoy! They were a HUGE hit. The verdict is in; the games from the past are better than the games today. (According to Mme Katie's grade 1/2, that is). Another way we have been able to relate to grandma and grandpa's childhood experiences! It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon, (December 5th, 2013)! An ideal day for a short walk to the nearest mailbox, to deliver our letters to our grandparents. I hope we get some letters back! Students working hard with pen and ink, mimicking the method of writing from the past. AM shared that her grandparents help her with things, take her to Granby Zoo, and she shows them that she loves them by giving them hugs and kisses.
Thank you to Mme Neena for arranging to have dancers come and give us some lessons, in celebration of the Festival of Lights; Diwali. It is a wonderful way for us to wrap up our unit! |
